Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing, the leader in the transportation industry, has an exciting and unique opportunity to leverage your passion for heavy‑duty shop equipment and tools. As an Equipment Repair Technician (SETS) you will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and light repair on shop equipment and tools within your assigned geographical area at Penske service facilities. This entry‑level role involves 10‑hour shifts, four days a week, Monday through Thursday. Your success will positively impact our maintenance facility operations, technicians, supervisors, and service managers, contributing to overall business success.

A typical day includes driving a SETS truck, interacting with technicians, maintenance supervisors, and service managers while completing the inspection process digitally. You will capture needed information to automate approval, summary reporting, and inventory management. Depending on location, you may return home the same day or continue to the next location and return home on weekends. You will collaborate regularly with the Tooling & Service Bay Technology team to identify process and tooling improvements.

We are looking for candidates with strong automotive or heavy‑duty technical knowledge about tools and equipment, process‑driven mindset, and the ability to listen to multiple perspectives.

Major Responsibilities

• Perform SETS inspection and light repair procedures.
• Collaborate with location staff and the SETS team to schedule visits.
• Communicate repair or replacement recommendations based on inspection results.
• Keep the SETS truck organized and clean.
• Communicate tool, replacement part, and garage supplies inventory needs.
• Identify areas of SETS process improvement.
• Assist as needed with training new associates on inspection and repair processes.
• Perform other duties and tasks as required by supervisor.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years as an automotive or heavy‑duty technician with diagnostics and repair experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• ALI inspection certification preferred.
• CDI torque wrench certification training preferred.
• Ase certifications preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates or tech‑school degree preferred.
• Excellent organization, customer service, and communication skills.
• Experience using tools of the trade (computers, tablets, cell phones, hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, etc.).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web‑based applications (Outlook, Teams, Smartsheet, Salesforce, etc.).
• Regular, predictable, full‑time attendance is an essential function of this job.
• Willingness to travel within the geographical area, work required schedule, and complete required background and drug screening.

Physical Qualifications

• Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during scheduled work time.
• Use hands daily to grasp, reach, handle, and operate tools or controls.
• Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.
• Work safely in all weather conditions.
• See and hear to navigate the workspace safely.
• Regularly lift or move up to 50 lb (23 kg) and occasionally up to 100 lb (45 kg).
