Job summary

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) seeks a Tooling Mechanic to support the Tooling & Emergent Operations Team in Berkeley, MO. You will program, set up, and machine parts on 3- and 5-axis mills, lathes, and live tooling lathes, and maintain tooling documentation and calibration equipment.

The role requires 3+ years in machining, a high school diploma, and preferred CAD/CAM MasterCAM experience plus CNC programming skills.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a machining environment.
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Preference for CAD/CAM MasterCAM experience.
  • Experience programming/operating CNC machinery (3 and 5 axis).

Responsibilities

  • Program, setup, and machine parts on 3 and 5 axis mills, lathes, and live tooling lathes.
  • Develop, prepare and maintain documentation for tooling items and calibration equipment.
  • Utilize manual equipment to fabricate or modify tooling components.
  • Equipment maintenance, calibration, CNC machining, welding and related duties as assigned.

Position Responsibilities
  • Program, setup, and machine parts on 3 and 5 axis mills, lathes, and live tooling lathes
  • Develop, prepare and maintain all documentation related to the design, fabrication, and usage of various tooling items and their respective associated calibration equipment
  • Utilize manual equipment to fabricate or modify various tooling components (Examples: Bridgeport mill, manual lathe, surface grinder, drill press, etc.)
  • Other responsibilities may include: Equipment Maintenance & Calibration, CNC machining, Welding, Composites Modification, Tooling Inspection, Laser Tracking, and much more
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.

  • 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience working in a machining environment
  • High school graduate or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience with CAD/CAM Software (MasterCAM)
  • 5+ years of experience in programming & operating CNC machinery (Examples: 3 and 5 axis mills, lathes, live tooling lathes)
  • Technical trade school certificate/degree (Or appropriate apprenticeship completion)

Additional Information
  • This is a union-represented position
  • This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinist (IAM 837) Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • The selected candidate must be able to work any shift, as assigned.
  • New Hires, as well as employees who transfer from non-union positions, may be required to attend some type of training upon their start. Once any required training has been completed all new employees will be considered on probation for a period of (120) calendar days. Continued employment is contingent upon successful completion of the probationary period.
