Job summary

MiTek is seeking a skilled Tooling & Die Repair Machinist to support our stamping operations by manufacturing, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting tooling and die components. This role maintains production efficiency, quality, and equipment reliability in a heavy manufacturing setting.

The ideal candidate will have experience operating machine shop equipment, interpreting blueprints, machining precision components, and supporting stamping die maintenance and repair.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Journeyman Machinist certification or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years machining and tool room experience or equivalent.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments and machine shop equipment.
• Stamping die experience and progressive die maintenance a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture new tooling, die components, and replacement parts from blueprints, sketches, specifications, or samples.
• Repair and restore worn or damaged tooling, dies, and components to original specifications.
• Operate machine shop equipment including lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, and other precision machining equipment.
• Inspect and verify parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure quality.
• Assist with die teardown, troubleshooting, repair, assembly, and maintenance activities.
• Maintain die maintenance records and related documentation.
• Develop and implement improvements to production methods, tooling performance, and equipment reliability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manufacture new tooling, die components, and replacement parts from blueprints, sketches, specifications, or existing samples.

• Train, mentor, and assist team members as needed.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance, including working overtime as required to support business needs. Employees are expected to report to work on time and be prepared to begin work at the start of each scheduled shift.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Journeyman Machinist certification, accredited machinist training, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of machining and tool room experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments and machine shop equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Stamping die experience.
• Progressive die maintenance and repair experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing or metal stamping environment.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, die components, and stamping operations.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple projects.
• Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing and walking throughout shift.
• Frequent handling of tools, dies, and machine components.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally with assistance.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing and tool room environment with exposure to:

• Moving machinery and mechanical equipment
• Noise requiring hearing protection
• Heat, humidity, and varying temperatures
• Forklift traffic
• Oils, coolants, and metalworking materials
