Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. seeks an experienced Tooling Engineer to design tooling and fixtures for aerospace production. You will develop CAD models and drawings per ASME Y14.5, manage tooling projects end-to-end, and partner with design and manufacturing teams to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.

The role requires a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, strong CAD skills (Creo), and hands-on manufacturing experience, including GD&T and hand calculations.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with tooling design, fabrication and procurement.
• Proven experience with CAD-based design software for modeling and drafting.
• Experience with Creo Parametric and Windchill CAD/PDM systems.
• Understanding of GD&T and mechanical design fundamentals.
• Ability to create free-body diagrams and basic hand calculations.
• Three or more years of direct manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and release CAD models and drawings for tooling per ASME Y14.5 standards.
• Solve design challenges involving fixtures, material-handling equipment, rotisseries, test fixtures, weldments, environmental chambers, and custom machinery.
• Manage tooling projects from concept through commissioning, including vendor selection, procurement, fabrication, inspection, installation, and proof testing.
• Establish procurement and fabrication priorities and communicate them clearly to the team.
• Define and support repair and rework activities.
• Perform root cause analyses for nonconformances and implement corrective actions.
• Develop material-handling and packaging requirements to protect hardware.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to optimize safety, cost, quality, cycle time, delivery, reliability, and maintainability.
