Dukane IAS LLC in Missouri seeks a Tooling Design Engineer to design precision tooling for ultrasonic welding, using surface CAD data and customer part data. You will provide feasibility evaluations and assist with joint designs for assemblies.

A BS in Mechanical Engineering and 1–2 years of tooling design experience are required. Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD (Inventor or Pro/E/Creo) is essential, with opportunity to work on multiple projects and travel <10%.

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE:Tooling Design Engineer will primarily design tooling and work on applications related to Ultrasonic Welding and related joining processes. This person will design precision tooling from surface CAD models. Provide customers with feasibility evaluations and assist in determining part joint designs for appropriate methods of assembly. Assist with Domestic and International travel may be required and travel is estimated at less than 10% of the time. Will support the Corporate Quality Policy and, using TQM concepts, principles and tools, will make continuous improvements in work processes.POSITION FUNCTIONS:Listed below are typical functions performed in this position. This description should not be construed to contain every function/responsibility that may be required to be performed by the individual in this position as he or she is required to perform other related functions as assigned.PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:Communicate with the customers (external and internal) in a professional, effective and timely manner.Provide feasibility evaluations and reports, quotes and other necessary information to meet customers’ expectations.Design precision tooling from the customer’s part data (including surface data). A minimum of 75% of the time should to be spent on design work and the remaining time spent on applications and engineering support duties.Implement Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, Design for Testing principles in the development of the tooling and fixtures.Evaluate and select components and materials used in products to improve reliability, robustness and quality of designs.Create and maintain documentation necessary for product development and manufacturing that conforms to ISO standards and TQM practices.Manage multiple projects concurrently.Communicate effectively to supervisor regarding the progress on scheduled projects, progress on achieving goals, and the results of any research conducted.Work and communicate effectively with other groups within the engineering department, division and corporation (as well as with outside suppliers) in a positive manner to achieve timely and cost effective deliveries.Test and de-bug final tools prior to run-off with customers.OTHER FUNCTIONS11. Project management skills are desired.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:1-2 years experience designing tooling is a big plus.MANDATORY SKILLS:Proficiency in 3D- and 2D- CAD mechanical design. Working knowledge of the modern manufacturing processes and practices. Good oral and written communication skills, ability to work in the fast paced environment. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Strong Analytical skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is a must.DESIRABLE SKILLS:Inventor and Pro-E knowledge is a plus. Pro-E with Advanced Surfacing is a strong plus.
