Job summary

OTTO Engineering, Inc. in Carpentersville, IL seeks a Tool Room Supervisor to lead our tool and die team in progressive stamping operations. You will supervise die design and maintenance, coordinate with pressroom scheduling, train apprentices, and ensure tooling meets quality specs.

Experience in tool steels, SPC knowledge, and the ability to work from blueprints are required; overtime may be necessary. OTTO offers profit sharing, generous vacation, healthcare, 401(k), and a collaborative

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in Tool and Die.
• Stamping Production experience.
• Minimum of 3 years as a supervisor.
• Knowledge of progressive die design.
• Knowledge of SPC.
• Ability to lift and move 50lbs. with assistance as necessary.
• Ability to use various inspection equipment.
• Knowledge of tool steels and stamping materials.
• Must be available for mandatory overtime or non-standard or extended work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of piece parts for manufacturability.
• Understand operation of the presses.
• Understand the set-up of the presses.
• Responsible for ordering supplies for tool room.
• Responsible for die changeover.
• Responsible for quality from stamping department.
• Responsible for preventative maintenance of tool room equipment.
• Responsible for quoting tooling costs.
• Responsible for a clean and safe work area.
• Assists with other related duties as required or assigned

Specifically, we are seeking experience with …

• Leading a team responsible for building, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting precision tooling used in progressive metal stamping operations.
• Working closely with Engineering and Production to maximize tooling performance and minimize manufacturing downtime.
• Ensuring production of small to large progressive tools.
• Machining, precision form grinding, and keeping machinery running flawlessly.
• Traditional, highly skilled craftsmanship to keep operations running smoothly.

OurTool Room Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and support of the tool room and press room supporting OTTO's stamping production.

The Tool Room Supervisor will:

• Supervise die design and maintenance

What OTTO offers for this specific position:

The hiring range listed in this posting is what we, in good faith, anticipate relying on when confirming an hourly rate for this position; exceptions may be considered for highly experienced candidates with multiple years of at-level experience.

• Target hourly hiring range: $45.00 to $65.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
• Profit Sharing Bonus - OTTO believes that it's fair to share the profits that the employees help to make; profit sharing is distributed to employees twice a year. OTTO's profit sharing plan is paid at the discretion of the company and is not a guaranteed bonus or any part of a compensation plan.
• Vacation: 80 hours - vacation time is earned on the anniversary date.
