Job summary

Parker Hannifin is seeking an experienced machinist to set up and operate conventional, special purpose and CNC machines to fabricate and repair parts. You will program CNC machines, inspect tools, and ensure components meet specifications in a high-safety environment.

The role requires 3–5 years of metalworking machining experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a high performance team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
  • 3–5 years metalworking machining experience.
  • Experience with CNC machines and programming.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate under supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional, special purpose and CNC machines to fabricate/repair parts.
  • Operate tool room mills, lathes, grinders, wire EDM machines to produce tooling and dies.
  • Program CNC machines and inspect/ sharpen cutting tools.
  • Inspect work to ensure all specifications are met and provide operating instructions.
  • Train and assist trainees; participate in Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.

Job description

  • Set up and operate conventional, special purpose and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to fabricate and repair metallic and nonmetallic parts
  • Operate tool room mills, lathes, grinders, wire EDM machines and miscellaneous equipment to produce and repair complex tooling and dies
  • Program CNC machines
  • Inspect and sharpen cutting tools used in the plant
  • Inspect work to assure all specifications are met.
  • Give operating instructions
  • Train, instruct and assist trainees throughout the training period
  • Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to set ups and operations within recognized procedures
  • Work with groups in initiating and implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5S.
  • Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating the equipment in an efficient manner
  • Complete all daily 5S duties
  • Perform these and all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Management

Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities
  • All team members are expected to keep their work area clean, organized and maintain a high level of safety and quality
  • Must be able to successfully pass qualification testing (mechanical, numerical, verbal, abstract reasoning, space relations etc.)
  • Must successfully complete Tool Room Machinist Program class requirements at an approved educational institution or possess documented equivalent knowledge/experience/education through prior employment and/or educational background
  • Requires basic computer skills
  • Ability to proceed on work assignments with minimum supervision and assistance
  • Ability to communicate effectively with other team members, including between shifts
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work within High Performance Team (HPT) guidelines
  • Ability to progress to Tool Room Machinist A level
  • Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Good math, reading and writing skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Sound decision making skills, strong troubleshooting skills
Education And Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree or working towards a degree/certificate in field
  • 3-5 years metal working machining experience
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, lathes and mills
  • Experience with CNC machines and programming
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to reach and twist
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
