Job summary

Matthews Professional Employment is seeking a Tool Room Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC mills, lathes, grinders to produce precision tooling and fixtures.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of machining experience, can read blueprints with GD&T, and use precision measuring tools. This direct-hire role offers 1st or 2nd shift with competitive hourly pay and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing or tool room environment.
• Experience setting up and operating manual and CNC mills, lathes, grinders, or similar machining equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience machining precision parts to close tolerances.
• Proficient with precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Tool & Die, mold making, or tooling repair experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machining equipment to produce precision components.
• Machine, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, machine components, dies, and custom parts.
• Read blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Perform tool changes, machine offsets, and equipment adjustments as needed.
• Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments to verify quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Maintain close tolerances while producing high-quality parts; troubleshoot machining and tooling issues to improve efficiency and quality.
• Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to support manufacturing operations.

Tool Room Machinist

The Tool Room Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual and CNC machining equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify precision tooling, fixtures, machine components, and custom parts.

Requirements of the Tool Room Machinist
