Responsibilities

  • Supervise drilling, well completion and workover activities safely and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with Client’s on-site representative for contract interpretation.
  • Instruct crew to follow the client’s program and safety standards.
  • Ensure mud system operations comply with program instructions.
  • Lead safety meetings and drive non-routine risk assessments when needed.
  • Maintain housekeeping and ensure proper equipment maintenance planning.
  • Monitor stock levels of spare parts and consumables.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe, economical, and efficient performance of the drilling, well completion and work over activities by supervising the execution of the activities in compliance with Company’s standards, contractual requirements, Client’s program and current legislation.
  • Liaise on behalf of Company with the Client’s representative on site regarding contract management and interpretation.
  • Instruct the Tour pusher in the execution of the activities in order to ensure the activities are carried out in accordance to the client’s program;
  • Ensure the activities carried out to prepare, use, control the mud system are performed in accordance to the program and instructions received by client;
  • Ensure the progress of the activities is in line with the program and report to client any discrepancy.
  • Check periodically the efficiency of the safety equipment and devices present on the rig site.
  • Be familiar with handling and operating safely all drilling related tools and equipment.
  • Be familiar with running and testing of the BOP and how to operate the same and the diverter system.
  • Be familiar with the established well control procedures.
  • Be familiar with the established drilling operational procedures.
  • Ensure reporting routines are fulfilled.
  • Cooperate with the technical engineers to set up a proper maintenance plan for the drilling equipment.
  • Ensure the stock level of spare parts and consumables for the drilling equipment is kept at an appropriate level by requesting the equipment whenever deemed necessary.
  • Coordinate the rig moving activities by supervising the activity of the drilling crew, the lifting activities and verifying that the equipment is correctly positioned on the new location.
  • Ensure all classification society and authorities rules and regulations applicable to his/her area are adhered to.
  • Ensure that all orders and instructions received verbally or in writing are fully understood and adhered to;
  • Be safety conscious in all his work and behavior and use compulsory protective equipment.
  • Be always responsible for safe working conditions on the rig site.
  • Ensure that his subordinates use compulsory protective equipment.
  • Ensure that all relevant work and safety procedures issued by Company and Operator are adhered to;
  • Apply and ensure the correct application of prescribed safety standards and regulations.
  • Lead the safety meetings of the drilling crew.
  • Support the master in the organization of safety drills and actively participate to the same.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Safe Job Analysis before start-up of the non-routine operation or job and ensure completion of risk assessment where required.
  • Instruct his/her subordinates of their duties and responsibilities and of any special precaution to be taken prior to start-up of any work.
  • Promptly report any safety hazard, accident, near-miss accident and non-conformance. to his/her immediate superior 27)
  • Be responsible to maintain a proper housekeeping on the rig site.
QualificationsBasic Requirements
  • We expect more out of our hands than most contractors. We need them to be driven and able to work hard and do it safely!
  • We also expect our hands to lead by example via. their good work ethic.
  • Previous Experience on a Kelly Drive Rig.
  • A valid Driver's License is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical functions.
  • Oilfield industry experience, 3+ years.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening & background check.
  • Preferred: High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
  • Clean Driving Record.
  • CDL.
  • 7+ years of previous drilling rig operations experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to lift, move, or carry up to 100 pounds.
  • Able to regularly walk and climb stairs up to 15' high.
  • Able to stay alert and attentive for a 12-hour tour while performing sometimes repetitive tasks.
  • Able to open/close valves requiring upwards of 160 lbs. of torque.
  • Able to pull drill slips with another employee, latch/unlatch tongs.
  • Able to listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems.
Mental Alertness Requirements
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Have, display & maintain the ability to perform tasks involving high levels of cognitive function and judgment.
  • Not be mentally or physically impaired from any cause, that can adversely affect an employee’s ability to safely and completely perform the duties of the position.
  • Have, display & maintain the ability to cope with sudden changes in surrounding and/or emergency situations and/or alarms.
  • Have, display & maintain, demonstrated caring, committed, and concerned attitude about personal and crewmember safety.
  • Must be able to work at heights.
Typical working conditions and hazards
  • Work is performed in all weather conditions.
  • Able to perform duties with protective equipment.
  • Potential hazards include working near or with heavy tools and moving machinery.
  • Occasional work will be done on slick surfaces due to weather, drilling mud, or oil/grease.
