Summary

As a Tool Maker, you play a crucial role in our manufacturing process, supporting a broad spectrum of projects from production to experimental engineering initiatives. Your responsibilities include the design, fabrication, assembly, and repair of a diverse range of parts, tools, and gages and fixtures. Collaborating closely with engineering teams, you'll ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our creations, with a steadfast commitment to safety and precision.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Be flexible to work across various shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) as required.
  • Plan, develop, coordinate, fabricate, assemble, repair, alter and build parts, assemblies, tools, fixtures, gages, molds, and dies.
  • Assist in production with start‑up procedures and troubleshooting, guided by engineering or management.
  • Use all equipment, techniques, and tools as required by the assignment.
  • Perform related tasks as necessary in the completion of the associate’s work assignment in the Tool Maker classification.
  • Use new technology as applicable to the basic job assignment. Verify that completed work conforms to requirement or specification.
  • Cut new soft jaws and steps in existing soft jaws as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
  • Check and top off lubricants as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Responsible for complying with applicable provisions of Article 18. Health, Safety, and Environment of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Required Credentials
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • U.S. Citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Dept of Energy "Q" level security clearance.
  • Possession of a Tool and Die Certificate, or completion of a formal training program focusing on machining with at least two years of experience in CNC Machinery and related manufacturing equipment operation, programming, and setup.
  • If you do not possess any certification: five years’ experience in similar capacities.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, CAD drawings, GD&T, schematics, and CAD files, with experience in MasterCAM or equivalent for CNC programming and setup.
  • Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gaging equipment, indicators, height gages, and other tools required to perform the job).
Preferred Skills
  • Extensive experience (eight years or more) in machining, CNC programming, assembly and inspecting complex parts within a production setting.
  • Experience fabricating a variety of prototype parts, fixtures, and gages to extremely close tolerances, using all available manufacturing techniques, equipment, and technologies.
  • Exceptional teamwork skills, demonstrated by a history of working efficiently within cross‑functional teams.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office software and/or equivalent applications.
