Job summary

Cyient is hiring a CNC Machinist/Tool Maker in New Britain, CT to operate and program 3- or 4-axis mills and lathes in an aerospace tooling environment. You will interpret blueprints, set up machines, and execute precision milling, turning, and related operations to meet exact specifications.

The role requires hands-on independence, strong reading of drawings, and knowledge of GD&T. Experience with Mastercam is a plus; US Citizenship is required due to ITAR restrictions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of machining experience or completed a recognized Machining Certificate program.
  • Able to independently set up and operate CNC machines in a non-production environment.
  • Familiar with blueprints, GD&T and inspection tools.
  • Aerospace machining experience is a strong plus.
  • Programming experience is a plus but not required.
  • US Citizenship required due to ITAR restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T drawings and specifications to plan machining processes.
  • Program CNC mills and lathes, setting reference points, tool registers, offsets, and knowledge of Mastercam a plus.
  • Set up machines by installing chucks, tools, align and indicate vices and heads.
  • Execute machining operations such as milling, turning, facing, threading, knurling, grooving, and drilling with precision.
  • Adjust and reprogram machines as needed to maintain part quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot basic equipment malfunctions.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Participate in training and stay up-to-date on machining best practices and technologies.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist/Tool Maker to operate and program 3- or 4-axis mills and lathes (horizontal or vertical) in a dynamic aerospace tooling manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on professional who can work independently, interpret technical documentation, and ensure precision machining of complex components.
