Job summary

Stow is seeking a Tool and Die Maker - Setup Technician for the 1st shift to join our production team in the United States. You will read blueprints, set up dies in presses, and run the production line while collaborating with maintenance and quality teams to ensure high-quality tooling and output.

Responsibilities include building tools and jigs, inspecting parts, and troubleshooting die-related issues. The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and experience with stamping presses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Tool and Die Maker apprenticeship or equivalent experience as a maintenance/tool technician
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics
• Experience using lathes, grinders, and milling machines
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects
• Experience as a Die Setter or similar role in manufacturing
• Familiarity with stamping presses or die-based production systems
• Ability to read, understand and complete setup sheets
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Experience with overhead cranes

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of tools and dies
• Design and build tools and jigs using various machines and tools
• Inspect finished tools and dies for accuracy and quality
• Repair and maintain existing tools and dies
• Troubleshoot tool/die and roll forming issues with production teams
• Set up and install dies in press machines according to specifications
• Set coils on mandrel and feed into dies
• Adjust dies and roll forming cassettes for optimal operation
• Conduct trial runs after die setup to ensure proper functioning and output
• Inspect tooling and equipment before and after use to detect defects or wear
• Run the production line and support production goals
• Collaborate with maintenance staff and quality control to minimize downtime
