Job summary

Newell Brands is seeking an experienced machinist to support manufacturing operations by machining, fabricating, repairing, and maintaining dies, fixtures, tooling, and equipment. The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, precision, and the ability to work independently within a team.

You will set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders, read blueprints, and use precision measuring instruments to meet tight tolerances, performing TIG/MIG welding as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to safely set up and operate manual machining equipment.
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments and work to close tolerances.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Working knowledge of machine components, tooling, fasteners, threads, metals, alloys, and tool steels.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
• Use precision measuring equipment to ensure components meet tolerances.
• Inspect, modify, repair, and build tools, dies, fixtures, and equipment parts.
• Repair, replace, adjust, and align machinery components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, lifts, and hoists.
• Perform TIG and MIG welding as needed.
• Test machines following repairs to verify proper operation.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
• Apply working knowledge of machines, tools, screws, threads, metals, alloys, tool steels, and heat-treating processes.
• Follow all safety, quality, housekeeping, and work documentation requirements.
• Work independently while supporting team priorities and manufacturing needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
