Job summary

Press Forge in Paramount, CA is seeking a Tool Crib Technician to manage spare parts, tools, and safety equipment while supporting maintenance and production activities.

You'll coordinate with maintenance, purchasing, and accounting to ensure timely procurements, accurate inventory, and effective material distribution across the facility. Candidates should have inventory experience, forklift certification, and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Experience with inventory, warehouse, tool crib, or maintenance support is desired.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory levels of spare parts, consumables, safety equipment, and tools to support operations.
  • Perform cycle counts and reconcile records with inventory quantities.
  • Accept deliveries and distribute materials to departments or personnel.
  • Tag equipment and maintain asset records and MSDS documentation.
  • Coordinate with maintenance leadership to ensure parts and tools are stocked appropriately.
  • Obtain vendor quotations and follow up on purchase orders and deliveries.
  • Generate and process orders based on requests.
  • Assist accounting with reconciliation of received goods.

Position Summary:

The Tool Crib Technician is responsible for maintaining inventory levels of spare parts, consumables, safety equipment, tools, and other operational supplies necessary to support plant maintenance and production activities. This position serves as a key liaison between maintenance, purchasing, vendors, accounting, and operations to ensure timely procurement, accurate inventory control, equipment tracking, and efficient material distribution throughout the facility.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Inventory & Tool Crib Management
  • Maintain inventory levels of spare parts, consumables, safety equipment, and miscellaneous tools to support operations.
  • Perform cycle counts and physical inventories while reconciling system records with actual inventory quantities.
  • Accept deliveries and ensure prompt distribution of materials to the appropriate departments or personnel.
  • Tag equipment and maintain accurate inventory and asset records.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) records and related documentation.
Procurement & Vendor Coordination
  • Coordinate with maintenance leadership to ensure required parts and tools are ordered and stocked appropriately.
  • Obtain vendor quotations and follow up on open purchase orders and deliveries.
  • Generate orders based on maintenance and supervisor requests.
  • Place orders with local vendors and provide updates on open procurement activities.
  • Assist Accounting with reconciliation of received goods and related documentation.
Facilities & Operational Support
  • Coordinate scheduled maintenance services for company vehicles.
  • Notify maintenance and safety personnel of required services and corrective actions.
  • Record and maintain documentation related to completed work orders.
  • Log incoming packages and coordinate shipment of outgoing packages.
  • Support facility projects, including packing, unpacking, equipment relocation, disassembly, and reconfiguration activities.
Reporting & Administrative Support
  • Prepare inventory and operational reports for management, including inventory status at remote locations.
  • Research information and prepare documentation to support departmental projects and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to inventory, asset management, and facility operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and computerized inventory systems.
  • Experience operating a two-way radio communication system.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.
  • Forklift operation experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Experience & Education
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • One to three years of related inventory, warehouse, tool crib, maintenance support, purchasing, or materials management experience preferred.
  • Two years of computer experience in a professional work environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Forklift certification and/or prior forklift operating experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $22.00 to $25.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 40 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
