Job summary

Swagelok in Strongsville, OH, is seeking a detail-focused inventory control professional to manage tooling, gage, and spare parts inventory. You’ll handle procurement, stocking, kitting, and repairs/returns to suppliers, while ensuring inventory accuracy and alignment with SAP receipts.

The role emphasizes cycle counting, data-driven improvements, and cross-functional collaboration within the Tooling Operations group, under standard work and 5S practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 4 years manufacturing experience with a focus on inventory control or supply chain.
  • Mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Knowledge of MRP II principles and/or basic warehouse principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Basic shop math skills.
  • Assist with inventory control and some computer skills.
  • Capable of balancing workload in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in all aspects of tool and gage crib operations.
  • Manage inventory in an accurate and efficient manner.
  • Partner with service center team members to support cross functional activities.
  • Authenticate that SAP receipts align with business operating systems.
  • Facilitate indirect purchases of required inventory.
  • Contact suppliers for emergency purchases of equipment spare parts and procure needed items.
  • Arrange for returns to suppliers for rejected items or items needing repair.
  • Assemble kits for scheduled and emergency work orders requiring spare parts, gages, and tools.
  • Manage returns to suppliers for rejected items or items needing repair.
  • Resolve service organization concerns or obstacles with the resources of the Tooling Operations group.
  • Conduct inventory consolidations and supports obsolescence initiatives.
  • Provide internal customer service for shop associates.
  • Helps create standard work, SPL's, metrics or spread sheets.
  • Audits and troubleshoots advanced transactional issues and can run reports.
  • Looks for ways to improve and know how to troubleshoot the system regarding SAP, CribMaster, Tabware, and Gage Application.
  • Documents communication; communicates to all shifts and supervisors.
  • Investigates and/or helps implement CIAS suggestions.
  • Able to audit and make improvements using 5S.
  • Adheres to safety practices and procedures.
  • Performs other indirect tasks as needed.

Position Summary

Serves as the primary contact with the service organization to maintain tooling, gage, and equipment spare part inventory. Also has responsibility for procurement, stocking, kitting, inventory management and repairs/returns to suppliers. Perform the cycle counting process to maintain inventory accuracy. Coordinates inventory consolidations and identifies obsolete materials. Demonstrates initiative and organizational skills required for effective service center operation in accordance with industry best practice standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Proficient in all aspects of tool and gage crib operations

  • Assemble kits for scheduled and emergency work orders requiring spare parts, gages, and tools. Ensure inventory availability and replenish as necessary to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Manage returns to suppliers for rejected items or items needing repair.
  • Resolve service organization concerns or obstacles with the resources of the Tooling Operations group.
  • Conduct inventory consolidations and supports obsolescence initiatives.
  • Provide internal customer service for shop associates.
  • Helps create standard work, SPL's, metrics or spread sheets.

  • Documents communication; communicates to all shifts, including supervisors, scheduler; in the supervisor’s absence, takes any pertinent information and communicates it up to the supervisor of the next shift.
  • Investigates and/or helps implement suggestions from CIAS’s.
  • Able to audit and make improvements in the area using 5S.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to proper safety practices and procedures applicable to this role
  • Perform other indirect tasks as needed.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Lift, push, pull, or carry weight up to 35 lbs., however, occasionally lift up to 50lbs, push, pull or carry.
  • Must be capable of being on foot for up to 8-12 hours a day.
