Job summary

Ftc USA in Los Angeles is seeking an experienced machinist to set up and operate mills and lathes for aerospace fastener production. You will perform turning, drilling, threading, and finishing in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications to produce standard and custom parts.

The role requires 3–5 years of direct experience, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate drills, lathes, grinders and milling machines for turning, knurling, drilling, tapping, reaming, counter-boring, and deep drilling.
  • Cut and shape blocks to specified dimensions as per blueprints.
  • Install and secure tooling, collets, tool holders, and indexing mechanisms.
  • Adjust tooling clearances, speeds, feeds, and timing to meet tolerances.
  • Perform test runs and verify setup; make corrections as needed.
  • Monitor processes to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and regulate cutting oil flow.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and routine upkeep.

Job description

Qualifiedcandidateisknowledgeable of variety of mills and lathes used in aerospace industry to produce fasteners and hand tools. Requires 3-5 years of direct experience setting up and operatingequipment, preferably in fastener production.

Perform turning, drilling, threading, and finishing operations in accordance with engineering drawings and specificationsin productionof both standard and custom parts.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operatemachine toolssuch as drills, lathes, grinders and milling machinesto perform turning, knurling, drilling, tapping, reaming, counter-boring, and deep drilling operations.

Cut and shapeblocks to specified dimensions.

Install and secure tooling, collets, tool holders, stops, and indexing mechanisms.

Adjust tooling clearances, speeds, feeds, and timing to achieve required tolerances.

Perform test runs to verify setup and make necessary corrections.

Monitor machining processes andmake adjustments tomaintain dimensional accuracy.

Regulate cutting oil flow, remove chips, and maintain a clean and safe work area.

Perform basic machine maintenance, including oil changes and routine upkeep.

Diagnose machine malfunctions or setup issues and implement corrective actions.

Work from blueprints, specifications, and work instructions to produce conforming parts.

Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment.

Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.

Conducting test runs with completed tools and dies.

Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Experience working to close tolerances.

Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.

Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
