Job summary

Caterpillar Corner, LLC is seeking an experienced preschool teacher to foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in children aged 2–4. You will collaborate with co-teachers and site staff to create and implement engaging lesson plans, supervise daily activities, and maintain a nurturing, professional environment.

Requirements include a CDA credential and a high school diploma, with a preference for an associate or bachelor’s in early childhood development.

Qualifications

• Must have CDA Credential and high school diploma or equivalent.
• CPR certification required or willing to obtain.
• Associate or Bachelor’s in early childhood development preferred.
• Complete TB, Covid-19 tests and physical; provide physician’s documentation.
• Background checks including DHS and Michigan State Police.
• Ongoing professional development is expected (min. 24 hours/year).

Responsibilities

• Arrive punctually for work, meetings, and trainings.
• Develop, present, and evaluate lesson plans.
• Supervise classroom activities and routines.
• Assist co-teachers with daily prep and cleanup.
• Attend monthly lesson plan meetings and provide input.
• Submit supply requests and work orders timely.

Job description

In Early Childhood, the teacher is responsible for creating an environment that promotes the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of the participants in their assigned classes. She/he should serve as a team member in developing creative lesson plans and implementing them in their classrooms. The teacher must work in cooperation with co-teachers, site staff, the site leader, and all other personnel of the Caterpillar Corner childcare.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING

• High School diploma required with college experience in early childhood or related field.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or other child related field preferred.
• CPR Certified, or the willingness to obtain certification within the first six months of job
• Complete a Tuberculosis test, Covid-19 test, and physical and provide a physician’s documentation.
• Submit to various background checks including those completed through the Department of Human Services and the Michigan State Police Department

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and child development philosophies and practices.
• Knowledge of safety requirements pertaining to young children.
• Knowledge of innovative lesson planning for children between ages of 2-4 years.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Arrive to work, meetings, and trainings promptly.
• Display professionalism in punctuality, mannerisms, and attire.
• Develop, present, and evaluate appropriate lesson plans.
• Supervise all classroom and daily routine activities.
• Assist co-teacher in all daily preparation work and clean up of rooms.
• Complete site lesson plan prep work on a rotating basis.
• Attend and contributes to monthly lesson plan meetings.
• Submit supply requests and work orders to Site Leader in a timely fashion.
• Establish and maintains a positive working relationship with parents and other staff members.
• Establish a nurturing relationship with the children in addition to serving as a positive role model.
• Treat children in a positive manner that encourages individuality and positive self-esteem.
• Responsible for completing designated preschool housekeeping duties.
• Acquire a minimum of 24 hours of professional development training in one calendar year
• Maintain CPR/First Aid certification on a bi-yearly basis.
• Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the CCLC program.
• Work as a team player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departments

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $13.00 - $17.00 per hour
