Job summary

Community Action Commission of Santa Barbara County in Santa Maria, CA is seeking a Teacher I (Toddlers) for the Early Head Start program. The role is a regular full-time position in the Little Village Toddler Classroom with both individual and team-based planning and parent involvement.

The ideal candidate will hold Level I ECE units (12) and infant/toddler units, with a Child Development Permit or ability to obtain one, plus Pediatric First Aid/CPR. Bilingual skills are desirable.

Qualifications

• 12 units in Early Childhood Education/Child Development
• Six infant and toddler units completed or enrolled at time of hire for Early Head Start Center
• Obtain and maintain a current Child Development Permit; Pediatric First Aid and CPR card

Responsibilities

• Plan weekly lessons with the team teacher for preschool children
• Maintain safe, positive classroom climate and developmentally appropriate environment
• Engage parents from diverse backgrounds in their child’s education
• Maintain records and assessments; attend IEP meetings and staff meetings
• Provide communication with families about child development and needs
• Carry out duties with fidelity to licensing and agency standards
