The Goddard School in Westport, CT is seeking a passionate Toddler Teacher to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on CT ELDS. The onsite Curriculum Coordinator supports lesson planning, classroom environments, and more. We are NAEYC accredited and value teachers who nurture students daily.

Qualifications

• CDA, Associate or Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• 2–5 years of experience with infants/young children in licensed childcare or preschool
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and engage families positively

• Write and implement age-appropriate lesson plans based on CT ELDS
• Foster a love of learning through engaging teaching methods
• Observe and assess children's development and adjust activities
• Create a safe, nurturing, inclusive classroom environment

Lead Teacher Key Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum and Instruction:
   • Write and Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities based on CT ELDS
   • Foster a love of learning through creative and engaging teaching methods
   • Observe and assess children's development and adjust activities accordingly
2. Classroom Management:
   • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
   • Manage daily routines and transitions smoothly
   • Address behavioral issues with positive guidance and support
3. Family Communication:
   • Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and daily activities
   • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide regular updates
   • Encourage family involvement and participation in school activities
4. Health and Safety:
   • Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and common areas
   • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and procedures
   • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure their safety and well-being
5. Professional Development:
   • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
   • Stay current with best practices in early childhood education
   • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to share ideas and strategies

Qualifications:

• Child Development Associate (CDA), Associate or Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• 2-5 years of previous experience working with Infants and young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
• Develops relationships and communicate effectively with children, parents, and faculty members
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
