Job summary

Child Care Resources Inc in Waterbury, CT is seeking an experienced early childhood educator to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment and promote school readiness. You will plan developmentally appropriate curriculum, assess progress, and partner with families to support individual goals while ensuring compliance with CT standards and agency policies.

You will supervise Assistant Teachers and staff, maintain accurate records, communicate with families, and contribute to ongoing quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Must meet CT Office of Early Childhood qualifications as a Qualified Staff Member.
• Experience working in an early childhood program.

Responsibilities

• Provides active supervision to ensure children's health, safety, and well-being.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily learning experiences for school readiness.
• Prepares and adapts classroom activities per approved curriculum and children's needs.
• Observes, assesses, documents, and monitors children's progress using approved tools.
• Establishes individualized goals based on observations and development.
• Maintains accurate child records and assessment information.
• Supervises Assistant Teachers, Education Aides, and volunteers.
• Collaborates with Education Managers on children's needs and program goals.
• Conducts parent-teacher conferences and ongoing family communication.
• Provides families with community resources information as appropriate.
• Supports family engagement throughout the Early Childhood Development Program.
• Plans and participates in field trips and classroom activities to enhance learning.
• Maintains a clean, safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
• Maintains materials and equipment; requests supplies as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of child, family, and program information.
• Participates in staff meetings, trainings, and quality improvement efforts.
• Complies with Early Start CT, NAEYC accreditation standards, and OEC regulations.
• Teachers maintain an updated registry account annually as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Provides a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports children's social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and language development. Plans and implements curriculum, assesses children's progress, and partners with families to support individual learning goals and positive child outcomes leading to school readiness. Works collaboratively with families and staff to provide high-quality early childhood services in compliance with Early Start CT requirements, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation standards, Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) regulations, and agency policies.

What You'll Do

• Provides active supervision to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children at all times.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate curriculum and daily learning experiences that support individual children's developmental needs and school readiness goals.
• Prepares and adapts classroom activities in accordance with approved curriculum, program standards, and children's interests and abilities.
• Observes, assesses, documents, and monitors children's developmental progress using approved curriculum assessment systems and program tools.
• Establishes individualized goals for children based on observations, assessments, and developmental needs.
• Maintains accurate child records, documentation, and assessment information as required by program standards.
• Provides guidance, direction, and supervision to Assistant Teachers, Education Aides, volunteers, and classroom support staff.
• Collaborates with Education Managers regarding children's individual needs, classroom concerns, and program goals.
• Conducts parent-teacher conferences, family meetings, and ongoing communication with families to support children's development and engagement.
• Provides families with information regarding community resources and services as appropriate.
• Supports family engagement and involvement throughout the Early Childhood Development Program.
• Plans and participates in field trips and classroom activities that enhance children's learning experiences.
• Maintains a clean, safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
• Maintains classroom materials, supplies, and equipment and requests supplies as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of child, family, and program information in accordance with agency policies and applicable regulations.
• Participates in staff meetings, trainings, professional development activities, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
• Complies with Early Start CT requirements, NAEYC accreditation standards, Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC) regulations, agency policies, health and safety procedures, and mandated reporter responsibilities.
• Teachers must maintain an updated registry account annually, including a current plan of study and updated transcripts as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Study, or a related field; or a bachelor's degree with completion of a minimum of 12 defined foundational early childhood credits as established by the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood (OEC).
• Must meet qualifications set by the CT Office of Early Childhood and be considered a Qualified Staff Member (QSM).
• Experience working in a early childhood program.
