Job summary

The Goddard School in Magnolia, Texas is seeking a Toddler Teacher to join our on-site team. No childcare experience is necessary as we provide on-site training and a supportive work environment focused on safe, nurturing care for toddlers.

We value dependable, patient, and professional individuals who love working with children and meet state licensing requirements. Training will be provided, and you will collaborate with staff to implement age-appropriate activities throughout the day.

Qualifications

  • Must love working with children and be able to supervise them at all times.
  • Must meet state childcare licensing requirements and training.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise children at all times, including during meals, diapering, naps, and transitions.

  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and appropriate expectations for toddler behavior.
  • Use positive guidance and redirection; avoid yelling or shaming.

Toddler Teacher – Job Requirements

No childcare experience necessary. We will train on-site. Must love working with children.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; early childhood education coursework/CDA preferred.
  • Must meet all state childcare licensing requirements.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Must pass required background checks and complete all required childcare training.
  • Previous experience working with toddlers preferred.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, patient, nurturing, and professional.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, loving, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for toddlers.
  • Actively supervise children at all times, including during classroom activities, meals, diapering, naps, playground time, and transitions.
  • Follow the school's curriculum and prepare age-appropriate learning activities.
  • Engage with children throughout the day through play, conversation, reading, music, sensory activities, and hands-on learning.
  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and appropriate expectations for toddler behavior.
  • Use positive guidance and redirection; yelling, threatening, shaming, or inappropriate discipline is never acceptable.
  • Change diapers and assist with toilet training according to school and licensing procedures.
  • Follow proper handwashing, sanitation, food-safety, and diapering procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized classroom and sanitize toys, tables, changing areas, and classroom materials as required.
  • Accurately document meals, snacks, diaper changes, naps, activities, incidents, and other required information.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents about their child's day, development, and needs.
  • Immediately report injuries, unusual behaviors, safety concerns, or suspected illness according to school procedures.
  • Work cooperatively with co-teachers, administrators, floaters, and other staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and employees.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, school events, classroom celebrations, and other required activities.
  • Follow all school policies, licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and administrative directions.
  • Be willing to assist in other classrooms or areas of the school when needed.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to frequently sit and work at a child's level.
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and move quickly when necessary.
  • Able to lift and carry children as required by the position.
  • Able to safely supervise children indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
Professional Expectations

A toddler teacher must understand that caring for toddlers requires constant engagement and supervision. Personal phone use, sleeping, excessive sitting without interacting with children, ignoring children, or leaving children inadequately supervised is unacceptable.

The teacher is expected to arrive on time, maintain regular attendance, accept feedback professionally, work as part of the school team, and consistently demonstrate patience and appropriate behavior around children, families, and coworkers.
