Job summary

South Windsor Child Development Center is seeking an Assistant Teacher to nurture young learners and support a developmentally appropriate program. Under the Head Teacher, you will assist with daily routines, safety, and building a warm, inviting classroom.

You should have an Associate degree in Early Childhood or related credentials, and experience with preschool children. The center offers medical and dental benefits, paid time off, and professional growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Early Childhood or higher with at least 12 credits in early childhood education and at least one year experience working with preschool children.
• An associate degree or higher in a related field with at least 12 credits in early childhood education and at least one year experience with preschool children.
• CDA certification and at least two years teaching in a preschool program.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Teacher in planning and conducting an effective child development program for preschool children.
• Ensure children's safety through supervision and proper equipment maintenance.
• Maintain clean and sanitary environment and assist with routines (hand washing, meals, nap, transitions).
• Assist in maintaining written records and evaluations for each child and class.
• Participate in maintaining NAEYC accreditation status.
• Assist in preparing newsletters or classroom bulletins.
• Help train staff and volunteers; supervise afternoon staff with Director and Head Teacher.
• Create and maintain a welcoming classroom atmosphere where children feel secure.

Education
