Job summary

The Mushroom Company in Cambridge, MD is seeking an Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our manufacturing facility on the first shift (7:00 AM–3:30 PM). This role focuses on troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and improving production equipment to minimize downtime and keep operations safe and efficient.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical and electrical skills, with experience in slicers, dicers, welding, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and VFDs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance preferred.
• 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• VFD experience preferred.
• Welding experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read drawings and schematics.
• Proficient with diagnostic tools such as multimeters.
• Excellent troubleshooting and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on production machinery.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Repair and replace motors, pumps, conveyors, and related equipment.
• Maintain slicers and dicers components, including blades and bearings.
• Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
• Assist with installation, upgrades, and replacement of machinery.

• Coordinate with Production to minimize downtime.
• Identify safety hazards and follow plant safety requirements.

Industrial Maintenance Technician – First Shift

Position Summary

The Mushroom Company is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our Cambridge manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and improving production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain safe and efficient operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and experience working with industrial equipment. Experience with slicers, dicers, welding, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and VFDs is highly preferred. The original position also places particular emphasis on slicer/dicer maintenance, blade sharpening and replacement, and rebuilding equipment components.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on production machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Repair and replace motors, pumps, conveyors, and related equipment.
• Maintain and repair slicers and dicers, including blades, bearings, shafts, fingers, frames, and housings.
• Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed.
• Assist with installation, upgrades, and replacement of machinery and equipment.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Update maintenance logs and parts inventory.
• Work closely with Production and other departments to minimize equipment downtime.
• Identify potential safety hazards and follow all plant safety requirements.
• Support continuous improvement projects and recommend improvements to equipment and maintenance processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or a related field preferred.
• 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience or similar experience.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and replace motors.
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters.
• VFD experience preferred.
• Welding experience strongly preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and perform physical maintenance work for extended periods.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, and industrial environments.
• Must follow PPE and all applicable safety requirements.
• Occasional overtime, emergency response, off-shift, or weekend work may be required.
• During peak season, the position may require working up to six days per week.
