Job description

At Caribou, we care about giving people financial freedom so they can focus on what’s most important to them. Today, less than two percent of Americans refinance their auto loans despite drastic increases in the cost of new and used cars. We see huge potential to help folks reduce their monthly auto payments and increase the predictability of those expenses over time. We do this by building technology to pair customers with credit unions, banks, and finance companies and by simplifying every step of the process. On average, our drivers save $162/month on their car loans while protecting their investment long term.

Caribou is led by leaders from the technology, automotive, and finance industries. We’re proud to be backed by a great team of investors, including QED Investors, Goldman Sachs, Moderne Ventures, Accomplice, Link Ventures, Motley Fool Ventures and others.

About the Role

Caribou is seeking a Titling Specialist to join our Titling team in Denver. You will play a central role in completing the auto refinance process for our customers, managing the documents and communications required to transfer liens accurately and on time across all 50-states. This is a high-volume, detail-oriented role, where your consistency, follow through, and ability to manage competing priorities directly impacts the customer experience.

In this role, you will…

  • Process & Perfect Liens: Accurately receive, upload, review, and submit electronic and physical titling documents to complete the auto refinance process & later to various jurisdictions to ensure lien perfection.
  • Customer & Partner Communication: Contact high numbers of customers, lenders, and jurisdictional organizations (via phone, text, email, and mail) to obtain missing documents and confirm loan payoff details.
  • Manage Information & Tracking: Become a subject matter expert on national titling practices. Demonstrate advanced computer literacy by efficiently navigating and updating multiple internal databases, proprietary platforms, and tracking tools to manage file progress within set service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Titling Partner Coordination: Submit files to and manage active holds with external titling partners and jurisdictional agencies. Interpret rejection reasons, and take initiative to resolve outstanding requirements with minimal direction.
  • Document & Shipping Logistics: Create and manage high volumes of incoming and outgoing document shipments (e.g., FedEx) to customers, lending partners, and jurisdictions.
  • Remote Signing Support: Facilitate remote wet-ink signing sessions using LongPen technology, including session preparation, electronic document verification, troubleshooting basic hardware/software connectivity issues, and post-session file maintenance, in accordance with departmental SOPs.
  • Team Collaboration: Share jurisdictional research and contribute to team meetings to continuously improve the refinance and lien filing process.
  • Document Storage & Audit: Manage and periodically audit document storage in the Denver office for compliance.

The essential functions of this role must be performed onsite in our Denver, Colorado office.

About You

You, like us, are driven to achieve your goals. At Caribou, we have just three core values: Give a damn. Velocity. Make the assist. We’re motivated. We race towards our goals. And we help each other along the way.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a track record of accuracy in high-volume work. Experience managing complex, multi-step workflows across multiple web-based platforms simultaneously, with the discipline to track file progress accurately and meet SLAs without close supervision.
  • Experience in document-heavy, process-driven work. Backgrounds in mortgage processing, insurance claims, medical records, government or DMV processing, legal administration, or similar fields transfer well. Titling experience is a plus but not required.
  • Clear and professional communicator across all channels — phone, email, text, and mail — with the ability to work through ambiguous situations, research jurisdictional requirements independently, and elevate findings so gaps can be documented and resolved.
  • Experience with inbound/outbound shipment management and document generation on digital platforms; highly proficient in Google Workspace.
  • Availability: Able to work weekdays between 7 AM and 7 PM based on business needs (standard shifts are 8 AM to 5 PM or 9 AM - 6 PM). Mandatory weekday attendance for the initial 2-week onboarding.
  • Holding an active Notary Public commission is strongly preferred. Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus.

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, walk, stand, crouch, kneel, and bend for extended periods to access office equipment and filing systems.
