Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) is hiring a Titling & Licensing Specialist II at the Mt. Pleasant, SC location. The role involves handling driver licenses, registrations, titles, and related services for individuals and business customers.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and clerical experience, with mandatory background checks before CDL test certification. Overtime may be required and relocation within 30 miles could be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus clerical experience.
• Must complete a nationwide criminal background check to include fingerprints prior to being certified to administer CDL knowledge skill tests.

Responsibilities

• Examines, accepts, prepares, enters and prints all documents required in issuing drivers' licenses, beginner permits and identification cards for all classes; original, duplicate, transfers, temporary and replacement vehicle registrations, license plates, handicap placards, golf cart permits and/or titles.
• Manages business customer needs such as licensing, insurance issues and/or verifying customer numbers.
• Processes motor vehicle registration requests and researches suspension inquiries, modifies registration credentials and issues automobile dealership licenses.
• Determines services eligibility from SC legislation and DMV policies.
• Administers knowledge tests to drivers requesting to operate Class A–G and CDL licenses.
• Verifies eye screening statements and reviews applications for fraud and medical cases to determine license restrictions; processes motor voter applications.
• Answers customer inquiries pertaining to driver, vehicle, registration, titling and insurance requirements; greets and directs customers.
• Operates camera system to issue credentials and uses SCDMV software and equipment.
