Job description
Overview

WJZ is seeking an experienced and highly organized person to oversee the efficient flow, management, and oversight of digital media across news and production systems. This role is integral to the day‑to‑day operations of our news department and studio, ensuring seamless integration of media assets and supporting content creation across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with IT and Engineering teams on system updates, upgrades and workflow improvements, and communicate SOPs across news and production workforces.
  • Provide technical support & training for newsroom and studio personnel on photography, drone, editing & playback platforms, microwave trucks and bonded cellular technologies.
  • Monitor & manage system performance, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot media workflow issues related to photography, editing, playback and asset management for linear and streaming production.
  • Act as a key driver in elevating content quality by working closely with photojournalists, MSJs & producer/editors to implement best practices with proactivity and positivity.
  • Provide hands‑on leadership of the photography team with scheduling optimization to harness the best content‑gathering in Baltimore.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a broadcast television environment with a strong background in photography, digital production, producing, editing and media asset management.
  • Proficiency in Edius, Adobe, iNews and Grass Valley Stratus systems is a plus.
  • Proven understanding of news production workflows & their evolution, editorial processes, and studio operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline.
  • Excellent social skills & collaborative approach. Must be a people person & people leader!
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems quickly & effectively with follow‑up and follow‑through.
  • Available to work days, nights and weekends in a 24/7 newsroom environment.
