Job summary

Bexar County in the United States is seeking a Title and Registration Processor I to efficiently accept motor vehicle registration fees and property taxes, transfer vehicle ownership, and answer customer questions. This full-time role supports dealerships and the public, handling registrations and title transfers with accuracy.

You will work under supervision, process forms, and ensure compliance with attendance and background checks; a high school diploma is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures.
  • Skill in basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to accurately collect cash and operate a PC, 10-key adding machine, and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to accurately enter data and follow verbal/written instructions.
  • Ability to deal with hostile or irrational people and establish relationships with customers and staff.
  • Must maintain a positive attendance record and comply with attendance assessments.
  • Must pass background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen.
  • May be required to type 25 words per minute with minimal errors.
  • May work more than 40 hours per week if needed.

  • Greet walk-in customers and collect/process payments for motor vehicle registration fees or property taxes.
  • Transfer ownership of vehicles.
  • Answer questions about motor vehicle registration procedures and title transfers.
  • Process registrations and title transfers from dealerships, auto title services, lien holders, and the public.
  • Verify and process franchise dealer bundles and title service bundles.
  • Issue forms to obtain special permits, handicapped cards, or special license plates.
  • Assist with counting returned motor vehicle inventory supplies.

Job Title Title and Registration Processor I - C Pay Rate Min to Mid Range $17.55 - $20.18 Time Type Full time

Under direct supervision, is responsible for accepting motor vehicle registration fees and property taxes; transfers vehicle ownership; answers questions; processes registration and title transfers; processes franchise dealers bundles and title service bundles; issues specialized forms; performs related duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greets walk-in customers and collects and processes payments for motor vehicle registration fees or property taxes
  • Transfers ownership of vehicles
  • Answers questions such as motor vehicle registration procedures and title transfers
  • Processes vehicle registrations and title transfers from automobile dealerships, auto title services, lien holders and the general public
  • Verifies and processes franchise dealer bundles and title service bundles
  • Issues and processes various forms to obtain special permits, handicapped cards or special license plates
  • May assist with counting of all returned motor vehicle inventory supplies
  • Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate
  • Knowledge of basic office procedures
  • Skill in basic mathematical calculations
  • Ability to accurately collect cash; ability to operate a personal computer, 10-key adding machine, and basic office equipment; ability to accurately enter data; ability to deal with hostile or irrational people; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other County employees, outside organizations and the general public
  • Does not process vehicle registrations and title transfers from automobile dealerships, auto title services, lien holders and the general public by mail
  • Acknowledge and understand that the Tax Office requires employees to maintain a positive and effective attendance record or pattern and compliance with attendance assessments are critical to continued employment
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
  • May be required to type 25 words per minute with less than 5 errors
  • Must be able to maintain an effective attendance record/pattern
  • May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
