Job summary

Greylock Energy in Charleston, WV seeks a Title and Lease Manager to lead lease maintenance and title curative activities. You will oversee title due diligence, ownership verification, and record accuracy while collaborating with Legal, Finance, and GIS to resolve complex ownership issues.

This role requires strong land knowledge, leadership, and process improvement skills, with a focus on delivering timely, accurate results in a fast-paced oil and gas environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Land Management, Project Management, Legal Studies, or Business Admin or equivalent.
  • 7+ years in oil and gas land, title, or lease admin with title cure experience.
  • Experience reviewing deeds, leases, rights-of-way and related instruments.
  • Supervisory or team leading experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage lease maintenance and title curative team; provide guidance and training.
  • Oversee title abstracting, curative actions, and ownership verification processes.
  • Review complex title documents to identify defects and encumbrances.
  • Develop strategic plans for asset integration and management.
  • Manage land projects, ensuring timely completion within budget.
  • Leverage tools to digitize and improve access to land contracts, title, and lease records.
  • Coordinate with legal and finance to resolve title issues.
  • Draft curative title documents for legal review.
  • Work with Division Order Analyst to ensure accurate division of interest.

Greylock Energy is seeking a Title and Lease Manager based in our Charleston, West Virginia, corporate office.This position leads lease-maintenance and title-curative activities supporting oil and gas development. The Title and Lease Manager oversees title due diligence, ownership verification, lease-record accuracy, curative work, and team performance while partnering with Legal, Finance, Division Orders, and GIS to resolve complex ownership issues.As an empowered member of our team reporting to the Director of Land, your expertise in land will fuel innovation as you leverage cutting-edge technology to streamline processes and secure successful outcomes in a high-stakes, collaborative environment.

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to effectively perform the following duties; other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead and manage the lease maintenance and title curative team, providing guidance and training, and serving as the escalation path for team members.
  • Oversee title abstracting, curative actions, and ownership verification processes.
  • Review and interpret complex title documents including deeds, leases, assignments, and probate and estate records to identify and resolve title defects and encumbrances impacting development.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for asset integration and management.
  • Manage land-related projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Utilize innovative tools for increased efficiency in the digitization, automation, and data accessibility of land contracts, title, and lease records.
  • Oversee the maintenance, accuracy, and integrity of lease records.
  • Ensure timely and accurate input of lease and title data into the land management system.
  • Coordinate with the legal and finance departments to resolve title-related issues.
  • Draft curative title documents and other real property documents for legal review, including assignments, letter agreements, affidavits of heirship, options, easements, leases, rights-of-way, and other recordable documents.
  • Work closely with the Division Order Analyst to ensure accurate division of interest for revenue distribution, verify ownership information, and update division orders accordingly.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Management, Project Management, Legal Studies, or Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and oil and gas land experience, is required.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in oil and gas land, title, or lease administration, including demonstrated experience curing defects in mineral titles, is required.
  • Supervisory or team lead experience is preferred.
  • A Certified Professional Landman (CPL), Registered Professional Landman (RPL), or Certified Division Order Analyst (CDOA) designation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and analyze contracts, leases, rights-of-way, deeds, wills, title opinions, Joint Operating Agreements, Unit Declarations and other legal instruments is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is required.
  • Land experience in Appalachia (PA, WV, KY) and/or in the Rocky Mountain region, particularly Utah, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following systems is preferred:Peloton LandView, M-Files, Quorum, or ArcGIS.
