Leonard’s Express is hiring a Heavy Diesel Tire Technician in Farmington, NY. This full-time, day-shift role focuses on tire mounting, dismounting, balancing, and trailer maintenance for a growing fleet.

The ideal candidate has experience with diesel equipment and a basic tool set, with a willingness to learn shop procedures and safety standards. We offer competitive pay and benefits in a family‑oriented environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Technical schooling or hands-on diesel experience is preferred.
• Basic tool set is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily yard checks and build a worklist.
• Inspect tires for tread wear and overall condition.
• Identify repairable tires and complete repairs.
• Dismount, mount, and repair tires; perform runout checks.
• Inflate tires to proper PSI per load requirements.
• Perform preventative trailer maintenance inspections.
• Diagnose equipment and trailer issues.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work area.

Leonard’s Express is expanding our Farmington, NY maintenance team — and we’re looking for a skilled Heavy Diesel Tire Technician to support our growing fleet. What You’ll Do

• Perform daily yard checks and build a worklist
• Inspect tire tread, wear patterns, valves, and overall tire condition
• Identify repairable tires and complete appropriate repairs
• Dismount, mount, and repair mismatched or damaged tires
• Perform match mounting, match mating dual assemblies, and radial runout checks
• Inflate tires to proper PSI based on load requirements
• Remove tires for off-site retreading or repair
• Perform preventative trailer maintenance inspections
• Diagnose equipment and trailer issues
• Replace trailer light cords, air lines, mud flaps, hangers, marker lights, and reflective tape
• Repair worn or damaged components
• Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe work environment
• Adhere to repair time standards and parts procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What You Bring

• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Willingness to learn shop procedures and technical information
• High school diploma or GED
• Technical school (A/B) or BOCES experience preferred — OR hands‑on experience with diesel equipment, farm equipment, construction equipment, or automotive repair
• Basic tool set
• Valid driver’s license
• Brake certification (we can provide this)
