Job description

TIPM Manager, Retrofits & Strategy, Electrical Engineering

Job ID: 10439568 | Amazon.com Services LLC

At Amazon we believe that Every Day is still Day One! We're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright and driven people.

We are looking for a Electrical Engineering Retrofits & Strategy Manager to lead a team of TIPM Electrical Engineers within our Global Electrical Engineering organization. This role owns the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of complex electrical distribution retrofit programs and electrical construction quality mechanisms across Amazon's logistic network. The ideal candidate combines deep technical fluency in electrical power systems with demonstrated people management experience, a track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure programs, and the ability to influence cross-functional partners at all levels.

This role requires up to 30% travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Key job responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Development: You will manage, mentor, and grow a team of TIPM Electrical Engineers responsible for delivering electrical infrastructure programs at scale. This includes setting team goals aligned to organizational priorities, developing individual growth plans, and building a high-performance culture grounded in operational excellence and customer obsession.
  • Electrical Distribution Retrofits: You will own the end-to-end lifecycle of retrofit programs that upgrade low voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution systems at existing facilities across North America. This includes developing design standards, managing third-party engineering and construction partners, overseeing commissioning and acceptance testing, and driving schedule and budget accountability across a portfolio of concurrent projects.
  • Construction Quality & Compliance Mechanisms: You will develop and maintain the mechanisms that ensure electrical construction quality across Amazon's capital project pipeline. This includes peer review frameworks, derogation authority processes, inspection and audit practices, and alignment with NFPA, NEC, and local authority requirements. You will partner with Internal Audit, Risk Management, Safety, Design & Construction, and Real Estate organizations to review internal and external audit findings related to electrical risk, and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Program Economics & Stakeholder Communication: You will support annual budgeting cycles and long-range planning, perform program estimates and financial return-on-investment calculations, secure funding through capital authorization processes, and clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You will monitor trends in electrical system maintenance reports and escalates as necessary to drive improvements or immediate corrective actions.
  • On-Call & Travel: Travel up to 30% of the time. On-call support 4 to 5 times per year providing 24x7 response to network emergency electrical needs.
