Job summary

Dal-Tile is hiring a TILE - MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN III - C SHIFT to support electrical maintenance in a high-volume manufacturing setting in Tennessee.

You will troubleshoot PLCs, design PLC programs, set up control computer systems, and diagnose issues from blueprints and layouts. The role emphasizes safety, process improvement, and reliable equipment operation.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting PLCs using handheld device or laptop.
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical drawings.
• Background in manufacturing electrical maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety practices including fall protection.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot PLCs using handheld device or laptop.
• Design and modify PLC programs and operator panels.
• Setup computers and install software for control systems.
• Install, maintain or repair equipment for electrical power usage in manufacturing.
• Diagnose faults from blueprints, drawings and layouts.
• Work with load calculations for wiring and electrical equipment.
• Operate with VFDs, serial comms and process instrumentation.
• Support continuous process improvements and cost reduction.
• Use electrician's tools and keep area safe and clean.
• Notify supervisor of equipment status and issues.
• Perform other related duties as required, including working at heights with fall protection.

• Trouble shoot PLC's (Programmable Logic Controller) using hand held device or laptop.
• Design and redesign program and software (PLCs, operator panels, etc).
• Format hard drives and install to the computers (Computer Setup) and PC application
• Installs, maintains or repairs equipment for the generation, distribution or utilization of electrical energy in a manufacturing environment.
• Locates and diagnosis trouble in electrical systems or equipment working from blue prints, drawings, layouts or other specifications.
• Works standard computations related to load requirements of wiring and/or electrical equipment.
• Basic knowledge of Serial port communication systems, VFD's (Variable Frequency Drives) and process control instrumentation devices (thermocouples, pressure switches, etc).
• Basic knowledge of Servomotors and drive units.
• Continuously reviewing their respective area for ideas and thoughts that will drive productivity and reduce costs within the organization and be able to professionally speak to their solution for improvement.
• Process improvement (Plan and submit process improvements and execute the plan)
• Uses a variety of electrician's tools including measuring and testing instruments.
• Informs supervisor of operational status of equipment and notifies of any problem areas.
• Keeps work area safe, clean and organized.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Routinely working at a height that requires fall protection.
