Chicago Magnesium Casting Co in Illinois seeks a TIG welder to join our team and weld magnesium and aluminum sand castings with an emphasis on quality and safety.

Candidates should have 1–2 years of TIG welding experience, basic math and procedures-reading skills, and completion of welding coursework/certification. On-the-job training provides certification; responsibilities include proper reporting, quality checks, and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills required for precise measurements.
• Ability to read and understand all procedures required to perform tasks.
• Strong communication skills for team collaboration and reporting.
• Completion of Welding coursework/certification or equivalent.

Responsabilités

• Responsible for TIG welding magnesium and aluminum sand castings.
• Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and proper reporting of processed quantities.
• Wear proper safety equipment; keep work area clean and safe at all times.
• Understand customer requirements and internal scrap challenges; deliver quality workmanship.
• Review and inspect all material, build self-inspection into every task.
• Complete, date and sign-off on routing information; apply weld stamp as needed.
• Use weld equipment to repair defects and discontinuities in castings.
• Identify weld area via weld map; clean parts to remove contamination prior to welding.
• Understand casting temper process; perform accordingly.
• May machine castings for weld plugs or plug casting; may machine excess stock.
• May X-Ray castings (Lev 1 X-Ray or higher) for weld verification.
• Perform tasks efficiently according to given standards; maintain tools and equipment.
• Offer ideas for continuous improvement; report problems to management.
