Job summary

Innosoft Corporation in Columbia, SC, is seeking a Tier-2 SOC Analyst to support statewide security incident response. You will monitor security events, perform investigations, and engage with state agencies to promote centralized security services.

The role focuses on incident response, threat detection, and security investigations with opportunities to extend beyond 12 months. Onsite availability in South Carolina is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Continuously review and correlate security event data across SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and threat intelligence sources to identify complex attack patterns, emerging threats, and security incidents.
• Perform deep-dive analysis of suspicious activity, validate incidents, determine root cause and impact, and elevate critical incidents with detailed context to Tier 3 as required.
• Create detailed incident reports, timelines, and post-incident summaries; contribute to lessons-learned documentation and remediation recommendations.
• Investigate user-reported phishing, malware infections, and policy violations; advise on containment and recovery actions.
• Recommend updates to SOC playbooks and workflows; fine-tune detection rules, alert thresholds, and correlation logic.

NoSouth Carolina residency required. Open to nationwide candidates; must beable to work EST hours. All travel-related costs for onsite work will be theresponsibility of the resource, regardless of the frequency of onsite work.

Project Overview

New role supporting statewide security incidentresponse.

The position will work as an Tier 2 SOC Analyst forthe Division of Information Security. This role will focus on supportingsecurity monitoring, threat detection, security incident response and securityinvestigations. Engaging directly with state agencies to promote, support, andimprove adoption of centralized security services is a key focus. Theengagement is expected to be needed for 12 months with the possibility ofextension.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• · Continuouslyreview and correlate security event data across SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and threatintelligence sources to identify complex attack patterns, emerging threats, andsecurity incidents.
• · Performdeep-dive analysis of suspicious activity, validate incidents, determine rootcause and impact, and elevate critical incidents with detailed context to Tier3 as required.

• · Collaboratewith engineering teams to ensure monitoring tools are properly configured andtuned. Integrate new threat intelligence feeds into workflows and proactivelyhunt for threats using up-to date tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
• · Serve as acustomer-facing SME, "selling" the value of DIS services by demonstratingcapabilities and resolving issues.
• · Documentprocesses, runbooks, and troubleshooting steps related to SOC operations.

Requirements

Education and Certifications:

• · Associate’sdegree in an information technology or information security related field

Preferred Skills:

• · Experiencewith the Palo Alto Cortex XSIAM/XDR platform.
• · Knowledge ofLinux, network administration and network design.
• · Experience inadministration of firewalls, VPN technology, Active Directory, IntrusionDetection/Prevention systems.
