Job summary

The Salvation Army Fairbanks Thrift Store is seeking a Store Cashier/Sorter for a part-time, 25-hour workweek. You will handle cash, process transactions, and assist in sorting, pricing, and stocking donated items in a busy store environment.

Responsibilities include customer service, basic inventory control, and adherence to loss prevention protocols. You will also assist with donations, receipts, and maintaining store appearance and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of inventory control, retail sales, and loss prevention.
• Ability to operate cash register and credit card machines; handle monetary transactions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cash register and process sales, issue credit slips, and make corrections.
• Count daily cash deposit and prepare a store report as needed.
• Answer phone inquiries and route calls professionally.
• Resolve customer complaints regarding merchandise.
• Ensure merchandise is properly priced and stocked; assist in pricing and shelving.
• Stock store, price items, remove outdated items and re-stock warehouse.
• Receive donations and issue donation receipts.
• Attend staff meetings and stay informed of policies.
• Support loss prevention and report incidents to management.
• Keep store clean and safe; assist in protecting property.
• Sort and price items in the warehouse and restock store inventory.
• Maintain confidentiality of clients and program information.
• Assist donors in removing items and provide receipts.
