Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a part-time thrift store associate to sort donated items, prepare merchandise for sale, and assist customers in Dodge City, Kansas. You will operate the register, help maintain displays, and support inventory and sales reporting while upholding the organization’s mission and standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register and keep accurate financial records.
• Receive and select merchandise for display from donated items.
• May price items within prescribed guidelines.
• Maintain neat displays and transfer stock to refresh marketing appeal.
• Rotate stock as directed by the store manager.
• Answer questions and assist customers.
• Keep records of sales and inventory.
• Assist in maintaining store appearance and safety.

Job Objective: Within store guidelines, sorts product and prepares items for sale and assists customers wi t h th eir purchases

Essential Functions:

• Operate cash register. Keep accurate financial records reporting discrepancies to store manager
• Receives and selects merchandise to be displa yed for sale from donated items
• May price items within prescribed guidelines
• Maintains merchandise displays in a neat and orderly appearance. Transfer stock to maintain fresh marketing appeal
• Rotate stock a s directed by the store manager
• Answers questi ons and assists store customers
• May keep record of sales and inven tory
• Assist in maintaining overall appearance, cleanliness and safe conditions in the store area
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education : High schoo l academic background preferred

Experience : Prior sales experience or working with people in services capacity preferred

Certifications /Licenses : N/A

Skills /Abilities :

• Ability to understand basic written materials, communicate effectively in English

Supervisor y Respons i b i lity : May supervise volunteers and community service workers.

Physical Requirements : I nclude s peaking, hearing and vision ability, an d excellent manual dexterity ; bending, squatting and walking ; ability to perform the duties of the lifting, pulling and pushing of merchandise up to 25 pounds; s itting up to 2-3 hours per day; stand ing up to 4-6 hours per day . Travel: May occasionally be asked to accompany Thrift Store driver on a pickup run
