Job summary

Benoit Inc. is seeking a Thread Inspector in Ennis, TX to inspect threaded products in accordance with work orders, drawings, and specifications.

The role reports to the Manager-Quality/Director-Quality and includes following safety, environmental, quality, and personnel policies. Responsibilities include performing First Article Inspections, maintaining calibration, recording data, and marking non-conforming parts.

Qualifications

• Strong documentation and reporting skill.

Responsibilities

• Inspect threaded products according to work orders, drawings, and specifications.
• Maintain calibration status on measuring instruments and report issues.
• Record inspection data on Daily Inspection Records and sign off on Work Orders.
• Apply employee ID on inspected parts.
• Remove defective inspection equipment from service and flag non-conforming products.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of tubing and accessories per procedures.
• Communicate any dimensional or material issues to Quality leadership.
• Ensure 3rd party standards and gage kits are properly maintained and returned.

Job Description

The function of Thread Inspector-Ennis is to inspect threaded products in accordance with the instructions of the work order, inspection report, drawing, and applicable specifications. They Thread Inspector-Ennis report to the Manager-Quality-Ennis/Director-Quality and exercise authority over no other employee.

Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Report to work on time and clock in/out at the beginning and end of the shift.
• Report to the Director of Operations to be assigned to a workstation and receive written work instructions.
• Adhere to company safety, environmental, quality and personnel policies.
• Check all precision measurement instruments for current calibration status and report any outdated or damaged equipment to the Lead Quality Control Specialist.
• Keep all documentation in a clean and legible condition.
• Perform and document a "First Article Inspection" before full production begins.
• Record information on Daily Inspection Record sheets and sign‑off on Work Orders and Router forms to verify those items which have passed inspection.
• Apply your employee identification number on the machined part which has passed the quality inspection.
• Remove from service any inspection equipment found to be defective or out of calibration.
• Verify that all measuring equipment utilized for product acceptance displays a current calibration sticker.
• Paint yellow (for recuts) or red (for scrap) and apply matching tape to any products that are non-conforming.
• Ensure that any inspection equipment not in use is stored in its proper location.
• Monitor the handling of tubing and accessories, to ensure compliance with applicable procedures.
• Report any questionable machined dimension, or problems with material, to the Director of Quality/ Lead Quality Control Specialist.
• Ensure that all 3 rd party standards & gage kits for licensed threads are properly maintained and returned to the correct gage box when not in use.
• Sign-off on Work Order, Router form, and any other documentation as required by Benoit SOP.
• Ensure that the company's products conform to all applicable requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Quality.

• Effective verbal and written communication in English
• Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions in English
• Sufficient visual acuity to perform job duties safely and accurately
• Ability to work in office, warehouse, production, or outdoor environments as required
• Lift, move, adjust, push, pull, and carry objects to waist height up to 30 lbs without assistance, up to 50 lbs with assistance
• Lift, carry, move, push, pull, and adjust objects from waist to shoulder height up to 50 lbs with assistance
• Frequent standing, bending, and reaching constantly throughout shift
• Frequent use of stairs
• Fine motor skills for inspecting threads
• Frequent use of measuring devices
• Exposure to noise, temperature variations, and shop environment
