Job summary

U.S. Army Medical Corps is seeking a Thoracic Surgeon to lead care in thoracic trauma, oncology and respiratory medicine. The role involves examination, diagnosis, treatment decisions and surgical procedures for vascular-related thoracic cases.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited US school of medicine or osteopathy.
  • Current license to practice medicine in the United States, DC or Puerto Rico.
  • Eligibility for board certification.
  • Completion of at least one year of an approved graduate medical education internship.
  • Completion of a training program in thoracic surgery.
  • Between 21 and 42 years of age (waivers on a case-by-case basis).
  • U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment and surgery for patients requiring thoracic surgery.
  • Perform required surgery related to the vascular system and thoracic conditions.
  • Join the Army Medical Corps to support humanitarian missions, leadership training and a comprehensive benefits package.

PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN THE LIVES OF OUR NATION'S DEFENDERS

As a Thoracic Surgeon on the U.S. Army health care team, you'll be at the forefront of medical innovation in thoracic trauma, oncology and respiratory medicine. You'll examine, diagnose, treat or prescribe courses of treatment and surgery for patients having surgical needs of the vascular system and performing required surgery. Requirements:

  • Eligibility for board certification
