Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. in Lansing, IL is seeking a dedicated material handler to safely move and document palletized product. You will follow HACCP, GMP, and USDA guidelines, operate MR-60 robotics and Lantech wrap machine, and maintain accurate records while following all safety protocols.

Responsibilities include inspecting packaging, labeling, following SOPs, and communicating issues to production management. Weekend/overtime flexibility is required to meet production needs.

Location Description

Our plant, located in Lansing, IL, pasteurizes raw eggs to remove harmful bacteria for a more safe product to the foodservice industry.

Responsibilities

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability. Ensures regulatory Compliance

This position is responsible for safely moving, recording, and tagging palletized product.

Qualifications

• Check package quality (dirt, labels are applied, etc.)


• Operate MR-60 robot


• Troubleshoot MR-60 including relacing suction cups, adjust taper/rollers, clean filters.


• Operate Lantech wrap machine including changing rolls of film.


• Complete necessary documentation?


• Make sure material is kept separated, neat and stored properly and labeled.


• To follow all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines.


• Perform lock out/tag out


• Watch, correct and report safety issues.


• Communicate issues to production management and maintenance.


• Must be able to follow all of the PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures.


• Must be able to follow all of the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) procedures, “washing hands, etc.” throughout the day.


• Must be able to follow all of the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines.


• Must be able to follow all of the SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures). Must keep all of records updated.


• Must be able to follow all of the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) regulations and guidelines. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.


• Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.


• Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

No specific degree required

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.


2. Must be able to safely lift 25 lbs. occasionally.


3. Ability to work with minimal supervision.


4. Ability to stand on hard surface for most of shift.

The pay range for this position is $17.34 to $20.40 per hour.
