Job summary

Teledyne Qioptiq in Miamisburg, Ohio seeks an assembler to assemble electronic components and subassemblies, following detailed instructions and using fixtures, soldering and inspection tools.

The full-time role offers a 4/10 schedule (Mon-Thurs) and a Third Shift (7pm-5:30am). A $2,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified individuals; overtime is possible on Fridays.

Requires high school diploma and ability to obtain IPC/J-STD Certification within 90 days and an ATF Possessor Permit.

• Ability to obtain IPC/J-STD certification within 90 days.
• Ability to obtain ATF Possessor Permit.
• Must communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Proficient with MS Office, Excel and Outlook.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Receive detailed instructions on all work under supervision.
• Position and align parts in fixtures or holding devices.
• Perform assembly tasks including soldering, potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy, bonding, curing, laser welding and pneumatic operations.
• Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases or packing material.
• May assemble under microscope or magnifying device.
• Mount components such as resistors, capacitors and ICs.
• Connect components and wires to printed circuits or routes via soldering.
• Adjust materials to meet electrical or dimensional specs.
• Perform inline testing and inspection to ensure standards.
• Cross-train on other programs in the facility.
• Complete rework per approved procedures.
• Use schematics and blueprints to complete tasks.
• Overtime on Fridays is intermittent.

Job Description

We are presently seeking an Assembler that will perform any combination of the following tasks to assemble electronic components, subassemblies, products or systems.

Schedule: 4/10 Mon-Thurs

Shift: Third Shift (7pm-5:30am)

Location: Miamisburg, OH

What You’ll Do

• Receive detailed instructions on all work, under close supervision.
• Position and align parts in fixtures or other holding devices.
• Perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as soldering, potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy, bonding, curing, laser welding, operation of pneumatic machinery, pneumatic presses, etc.
• Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases or other packing material.
• May perform assembly operations under microscope or other magnifying device.
• Mount assembled components such as resistors, capacitors and integrated circuits.
• Connect components, wires to printed circuit or route via soldering.
• Adjust, trim materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
• Perform inline testing, inspection using measuring instruments and electrical test equipment to ensure parts and assemblies meet production standards.
• Ability to cross train on other programs in the facility.
• Perform various repair/rework operations using approved written procedures.
• Utilize schematics and blueprint drawings to complete work.
• Intermittent OVERTIME, typically completed on Fridays.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You Need

Required qualifications:

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Certain job assignments require the ability to obtain and maintain an IPC/J-STD Certification within 90 days of employment and throughout your tenure.
• Ability to obtain an ATF Possessor Permit.
• Must be able to effectively communicate and engage with all levels of the organization verbally and in writing.
• Possesses intermediate computer skills including MS Office, Excel and Outlook.
• Please note that due to the requirements from the Department of Energy, U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six to twenty-four (6-24) months of industrial experience or similar training is preferred.
• Ability to read schematics and assembly prints, as well as being thoroughly familiar with such assembly operations as wiring, welding, bonding and soldering is preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
• Some bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, mild lifting of 10 pounds or less.
• Some assemblers are required to intermittently lift up to 50 pounds.
