Job summary

MACOM in Lowell, MA is seeking a Thin Film Process Engineer to sustain GaAs, GaN and Si processes in Epi and Implant areas in the wafer fab. It involves growth and characterization of epitaxial films, ion implantation and implant annealing for GaAs ICs and Si transistors.

You will drive continuous improvement, develop new processes for new products and transfers, and lead efforts to improve quality, yield, cost and safety while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Engineering with at least 5 years in thin-film deposition and related processes.
  • Experience with epitaxial growth and ion implantation in compound semiconductors.
  • Strong understanding of device physics and IC processing; data mining and statistics.
  • Proven problem solver with ownership and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • ITAR: US citizen or permanent resident.

Job description

Thin Film Process Engineer

Thin Film Process Engineer is responsible for sustaining existing GaAs, GaN and Si processes and developing new processes in Epi and Implant areas in the wafer fab located in Lowell, MA. Processes include growth and characterization of epitaxial crystal films, ion implantation and implant annealing processes. Product lines include GaAs ICs, Si transistors, and others.

Specific Responsibilities

Daily sustaining of the EPI/Implant area to ensure all factory indicators are met, continuous improvement of the processes and procedures, and developing new processes for new products, product transfers, and new process capabilities for foundry operations. Sustaining and continuous improvement include, but are not limited to: quality, reliability, cost, yield, process stability/capability, productivity, and safety.

Job Qualifications
  • BS or MS degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in deposition of thin films, preferably in Epi growth and Ion implant.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in compound semiconductor processes for high frequency applications.
  • Familiarity with typical materials systems for epitaxial growth, ion implantation and annealing in compound semiconductors.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics and IC processing, data mining and statistics, SPC, DOE, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured problem solving.
  • Must have a proven track record of solving technical problems, project ownership, meeting deadlines, and multitasking.
  • Must display a strong sense of ownership, drive and dedication to continuous improvement.
  • Must display an enthusiastic boldness for taking on aggressive goals and a commitment to achieving them.
  • Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams to improve processes.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including technical writing for summarizing data and findings, writing process and equipment specifications and work instructions.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Due to ITAR restrictions, must be US citizen or Permanent Resident.

RSU Eligible

This position is eligible to receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and cash bonuses, solely at MACOM’s discretion, subject to individual and company performance.

Salary Range

The Salary Range for this position is $98,000 – $142,000. Actual salary offered to candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
