Job summary

AmeriQual in Stone Mountain, GA, is seeking a Quality Control Supervisor to lead day-to-day quality and food safety programs on the plant floor. You will drive compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement through proactive leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, engineering, chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop QA technicians and staff to ensure strong execution of food safety and quality programs.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance and accuracy.
  • Conduct training, onboarding, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and ongoing development.
  • Partner with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, Warehouse, Procurement, and Leadership teams to ensure safe, compliant manufacturing.
  • Lead investigations related to nonconformances, holds, and food safety incidents; implement CAPAs.
  • Support internal audits, third-party audits, regulatory inspections, and customer audits; ensure audit-ready documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement and data-driven decision making across quality systems and processes.
  • Communicate quality risks, trends, and concerns clearly to leadership and operations teams.

Shift: Floating Shift – This position does not have a permanently assigned shift. The employee must be available to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift based on staffing and operational needs. Schedule flexibility is required. Advance notice of shift assignments will be provided whenever possible.

Position Summary

The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing the day-to-day execution of quality and food safety programs within the facility. This role serves as a key leader on the plant floor, driving compliance, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence through proactive leadership and cross-functional collaboration.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated and self-directed leader who can independently identify risks, solve problems, drive initiatives to completion, and effectively lead teams with minimal oversight. This individual must possess strong technical knowledge of food safety and quality systems while also demonstrating excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and business decision-making skills.

This position partners with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, Warehouse, Procurement, and Leadership teams to ensure products are manufactured safely, legally, and to customer specifications while supporting operational efficiency and company objectives.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop QA Technicians and quality personnel to ensure strong execution of food safety and quality programs.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance, accuracy, urgency, and professionalism.
  • Conduct employee training, onboarding, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and ongoing development.
  • Foster a culture of food safety, quality ownership, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide leadership presence on the production floor and proactively address quality or food safety concerns in real time.
  • Drive employee engagement and encourage problem-solving and ownership within the team.
Food Safety & Quality Systems
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable FDA, USDA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, customer, and internal food safety and quality requirements.
  • Oversee routine quality inspections, product testing, environmental monitoring, and process verification activities.
  • Support and enforce GMP compliance throughout the facility.
  • Lead investigations related to nonconformances, holds, and food safety incidents.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Support internal audits, third-party audits, regulatory inspections, and customer audits.
  • Ensure quality documentation is accurate, complete, timely, and audit-ready.
  • Review production records and quality documentation for compliance and accuracy.
Operational & Cross-Functional Support
  • Partner closely with Production, Sanitation, Warehouse, and Maintenance leadership to balance food safety, quality, customer requirements, and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve issues quickly and effectively while minimizing operational disruption.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for product launches, process changes, validation activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate quality-related risks, trends, and concerns clearly and professionally to leadership and operations teams.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and help drive accountability for plant performance metrics.
  • Support implementation and sustainability of quality systems, SOPs, work instructions, and training programs.
Continuous Improvement & Business Leadership
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality systems, efficiencies, training effectiveness, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Utilize data and trending to drive decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen by understanding operational impacts, customer expectations, production priorities, and regulatory risks.
  • Lead with urgency, initiative, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Effectively prioritize responsibilities and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Drive execution and follow-through without requiring continuous direction or oversight.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Microbiology, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably within Quality Assurance or Quality Control.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability and execute initiatives independently.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and quality/document management systems.
  • Experience with ERP systems, SharePoint, electronic document control systems, or quality management software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make sound operational decisions.
Strong working knowledge of:

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, communicate, and use hands repetitively. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

This position regularly works within a manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, moving equipment, and exposure to food allergens, including, but not limited to, nuts, fruits, dairy, and other ingredients.
