Portal Space Systems seeks a Thermal Test Engineer to build and operate in-house TVAC capability for spacecraft thermal-cycle and thermal-vacuum testing. This hands-on role requires commissioning, maintaining and optimizing test setups, collaborating with Thermal Analysis and Vehicle Test teams to produce reliable as-run data.
The candidate will design test fixtures, install instrumentation, and lead readiness activities across test campaigns, with occasional travel to external facilities.

The Thermal Test Engineer builds and operates the practical capability needed to conduct spacecraft thermal-cycle and thermal-vacuum testing. This is a hands-on role responsible for commissioning and maintaining in-house TVAC capability, designing test setups and ground-support equipment, operating the chamber, and serving as test conductor. The engineer partners closely with Thermal Analysis and Vehicle Test to deliver safe, repeatable tests and complete, trustworthy as-run datasets.
This position may involve access to technical data and defense-related materials controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Eligibility to access ITAR-controlled items requires that candidates be U.S. persons, which includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other protected individuals as defined by U.S. law.
