Job summary

Siemens Energy in Charlotte, NC seeks a Thermal Spray Manufacturing Engineer to partner with coating operators and production teams. You will develop and optimize APS/HVOF processes for gas turbine components, troubleshoot ABB/Fanuc robotic systems, and lead continuous improvement projects focused on quality and cost reduction.

You will design tooling, create work instructions, and train shop floor staff while ensuring documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
5+ years in thermal spray manufacturing, coatings tech, or advanced manufacturing.
Experience developing and optimizing APS and/or HVOF coating processes.
Experience operating and programming ABB or Fanuc robots, including offline programming (RobotStudio preferred).
Knowledge of metallurgical examination methods and coating evaluation.
U.S. work authorization without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

Develop, optimize, and implement thermal spray coating processes (APS/HVOF) for combustion components.
Create, modify, and troubleshoot robotic programs using ABB or Fanuc controls; support offline programming.
Provide hands-on technical support to coating operators and production teams on process, equipment, and quality issues.
Lead continuous improvement and advanced manufacturing initiatives focused on process capability, productivity, quality, and cost.
Design, adapt, and procure tooling, fixtures, and equipment for thermal spray operations.
Develop work instructions, deliver training, and ensure coating processes are documented and sustained.
