Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), part of Amphenol Corporation, is seeking a Thermal R&D Engineer in Valley Green, PA to support the Power Solutions portfolio. You will develop thermal models, run CFD simulations, and correlate lab test data to optimize thermal management for diverse product programs.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams and customers, you will provide design guidance, conduct feasibility experiments, and present thermal solutions clearly to engineers and partners.

Qualifications

• BSME/BSEE degree; master's preferred.
• 5+ years in CFD simulation and thermal analysis.
• Familiar with UL/EIA standards.
• Experience communicating technical results to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide thermal modeling, simulations, and characterization of power products and systems.
• Correlate simulations with lab test data at Valley Green facility.
• Advise customers on thermal design requirements for power applications.
• Perform feasibility experiments to assess thermal impacts of solutions.
• Build relationships with customer engineering teams and provide technical support.

As a Thermal R&D Engineer on our Power Solutions R&D engineering team, you will work in collaboration within the cross-functional team and with customers to develop the latest technology for the Power Solutions product portfolio. This position will provide thermal engineering support to our team and our customer's program, and associated engineers. The role is responsible for the use of thermal models/analyses, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, and lab test correlation to drive thermal management of our product development and product solutions for our customers. The position will be located in Valley Green, PA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide accurate modeling, thermal simulations, and characterization of power products and system architecture
• Correlate simulation results with test data (Certified test lab located at Valley Green facility)
• Provide design guidance and consideration to customers on power applications against their design requirements
• Perform design feasibility experiments and verifications to determine thermal impact of product solutions
• Build technical relationships with our customer's engineering and thermal teams
• Provide world class technical support to our customers

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BSME or BSEE (Master's Degree preferred)
• 5+ years of experience in CFD simulation and thermal analysis.
• Familiar with EIA, UL standards.
• Strong knowledge of heat transfer, thermal dynamics, thermal management of electronics, and advanced electronic cooling methods and thermal compliance testing standards
• Familiar with commercial CFD tools, including ANSYS Icepak and/or similar software package (e.g. FloTHERM)
• Proficient in mechanical design and 3D modeling using PTC Creo (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) and/or SolidWorks
• Strong skills of presenting thermal solutions and thermal analysis results to internal design teams, high level leadership, and external customers engineering teams.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills; ability to express technical content clearly and concisely
