Job summary

PsiQuantum in Milpitas, California is seeking a Thermal Mechanical Engineer to join the Packaging Design team on a mid-level, full-time basis. You will perform structural and thermal simulations of electro-optical sub-assemblies to optimize reliability for quantum computer subsystems.

Responsibilities include developing detailed FEA/CFD models using ANSYS or COMSOL, correlating results with measurements, and contributing to design for manufacturability and robustness.

Qualifications

• M.S./Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics required.
• 5+ years hands-on modeling and simulation experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Strong understanding of thermal conduction and convective heat transfer.
• Deep knowledge of solid mechanics: stress, strain, fatigue, creep and constitutive models.
• Proficiency with ANSYS (Mechanical, Icepak, Fluent) and COMSOL.
• Experience with nonlinear and transient analyses and lab-scale validation.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed FEA/CFD models of components and sub-assemblies using ANSYS or COMSOL.
• Correlate FEA results with measurements and prototype data to improve fidelity.
• Perform warpage and deformation analysis for multi-material assemblies.
• Develop thermal cycling and mechanical fatigue models for long-term reliability.
• Identify risk drivers and recommend design or process changes for robustness.
• Analyze failures and support design FMEA and tolerance analyses.
• Create end-to-end simulation workflows and document results for reviews.
