Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Thermal Hardware Engineer for the Starship Heat Shield team in Cape Canaveral, FL. You will design, build, and integrate manufacturing systems for mass production of heat shield tiles, leveraging CAD and automation to meet aggressive timelines.

Qualifications include a mechanical or aerospace engineering degree and 1+ years of hands-on build or design experience. Preferred is 4+ years in high-rate production with automation and CAD expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
• Hands-on experience with high-rate, high-volume production environments.
• Experience designing and integrating automated manufacturing systems.”
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical drafting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Engineer automated manufacturing systems using mechanical and fluid systems.
• Model assemblies, fluid routing, and CAD configurations.
• Create detailed manufacturing drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Specify components and provide purchase specs for sensors, valves, and pumps.
• Act as technical lead for equipment vendors and ensure delivery schedules.
• Own system integration and activation schedules under tight deadlines.
