Anduril Industries in Seattle, WA seeks a Thermal Engineer specialized in Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) to own the design, analysis, and validation of TPS for hypersonic and high-speed flight systems operating in extreme aerothermal environments.
You will apply first-principles hand calculations, material response modeling, and CFD to guide rapid, high-consequence design decisions while collaborating with aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, and systems engineers to integrate TPS into
Seattle, Washington, United States
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
The Thermal Engineering team enables Anduril's rapid hardware development cycle by ensuring advanced defense systems perform reliably in demanding real-world environments. The team works across high-power, tightly integrated products where thermal architecture, analysis, testing, and cross-functional design decisions directly affect product performance, reliability, and mission success.
We are looking for a Thermal Engineer specializing in Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) to join our team. In this role, you will own the design, analysis, and validation of thermal protection for hypersonic and high-speed flight systems operating in extreme aerothermal environments.
This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in aerothermal heating, ablative material response, and high-temperature thermal analysis — someone who can work across first-principles hand calculations, material response modeling, and detailed CFD to guide fast, high-consequence design decisions for systems where thermal survival is the critical constraint.
