Job summary

Amtec Staffing is seeking a skilled thermal design engineer for space-based technology demonstrations. You will conduct thermal design and analysis using analytical and computational approaches to keep hardware within safe temperature limits, employing radiation, conduction, convection, and single/double-phase heat transfer.

The role requires hands-on model development, integration of thermal submodels, and support for milestone reviews.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of 4 years of experience, or M.S. degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience, or Ph.D. degree in related technical discipline.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Top Secret (TS) clearance based upon SSBI within a 5-year scope and must be able to be approved for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) accesses.
• Background in spacecraft thermal control engineering in Earth orbit environments.
• Working knowledge of orbital mechanics and space thermal environments.
• Experience with geometric and thermal math modeling using Thermal Desktop.

Pay Range: $43-60.50 hourly with PTO and Holiday Pay

Duration: 14 months with possible conversion to FTE

Required Skills:

• Experience with geometric and thermal math modeling using Thermal Desktop.

Desired Skills:

• Preferred for candidate to have active Top Secret (TS) clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.
• Experience with use of TD Direct, Domain Tags, and Xrefs in Thermal Desktop.
• Integrated modeling experience for structural-thermal-optical performance (STOP) analysis for precision optical systems.
• Experience with active and passive cryogenic cooling of remote sensing hardware for space applications.
