Job summary

Sceye seeks a Thermal Engineer to design, analyze, and optimize thermal systems for its high-altitude platforms. On-site in Albuquerque, NM, you will model heat transfer, select materials, and work with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers to ensure integrated performance.

Qualifications

Role Description The Thermal Engineer will work on-site in Albuquerque, NM in a full-time capacity, focusing on the thermal design and performance of Sceye’s high-altitude platforms and related systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing detailed thermal analyses, modeling heat transfer mechanisms, and developing thermal management solutions for components and subsystems. The role involves designing and optimizing thermal control systems, selecting materials and insulation strategies, and collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams to ensure integrated performance. The Thermal Engineer will validate designs through simulation, testing, and data analysis, support troubleshooting during ground and flight tests, and document technical results and design decisions. This position also includes contributing to continuous improvement of thermal design tools, methods, and best practices.
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Thermal Analysis and Thermal Engineering for aerospace or complex technical systems.
  • Candidates should possess applied expertise in Heat Transfer and Thermal Management, including conduction, convection, and radiation.
  • Candidates should possess experience in Thermal System Design, including modeling, simulation, and optimization of thermal control architectures.
  • Candidates should possess proficiency with relevant thermal modeling and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Thermal Desktop, or similar) and data analysis software.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to interpret test data, correlate models to test results, and clearly communicate findings in written reports and presentations.
  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams and collaborating on integrated systems is highly beneficial.
  • Background in aerospace, high-altitude platforms, satellites, or related thermal systems is a plus.
