Vast is hiring a Mechanical Engineer I, Thermal Control Systems in Long Beach, CA. You will design and develop thermal control hardware for an artificial-gravity space station, from initial trades to validated systems, and lead cross-functional reviews with suppliers and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar field by June 2026.
• Onsite full-time work in Long Beach, CA.
• Experience with fluid systems or components.
• 1+ year doing hands-on hardware fabrication, assembly or testing.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of the thermal control system and components for the space station.
• Iterate on manufacturing processes and development testing in a fast-paced environment.
• Own the project delivery timeline from design through production, launch, and orbit insertion.
• Perform systems engineering tasks and fluid analyses.
• Lead design reviews with suppliers and customers.
• Coordinate with avionics, software, and mission operations teams.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and reliable.
